4-5-11 Resistance!

So, I decide to turn my learning attention to money.  In Rich Dad, Poor Dad,  there was an idea that was new to me that was really rather thrilling.  I'm paraphrasing the idea here but it went: the poor blow their money, the middle class use their money to acquire more liabilities, and the rich use their money to make more money.  This rang true to me.  I would consider myself middle class, as would I the majority of people I spend time with and this idea was true.  Friends get an income boost and look for a way to spend it...a bigger house, a new car, etc.  Rich Dad, Poor Dad  would suggest you invest the money in something that would give you a passive income and then use this income to buy what you need so you don't lose your original capital.  So the idea came to me that I really wanted to take the little money I had saved and instead of putting it toward a minivan (which is what I was planning on doing) I wanted to use that money to make money that I could put toward the minivan without losing my savings.  It sounds like perfect sense but this idea was novel to me.  I couldn't wait to tell people about this.  I started envisioning a money group where a few of us could come together and talk finances and possible investments for our money.  After all, more heads are better than one.  I call up my friend to talk about this idea and my new interest and WHAM.  She tells me she can't believe she's hearing this from me.  That I'm supposed to be the one who doesn't care about money.  That making money and being rich goes against everything I stand for.  In other words, I got the wind knocked out of my sails and an unspoken declination to my money group.  So I think about all she had to say.  I'm not trying to learn about money because I think I need to be rich to be happy, but money makes the world go 'round and I feel I am ignorant when it comes to financial IQ.  I don't like feeling ignorant.  I have no excuse.  If I identify a weakness in myself, then I want to strengthen it.  So onward I go...
